'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative effort from outside the box, and his teammate immediately hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result earned a fourth-round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
