19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
He defended 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
